A collection of one hundred short, humorous Chinese fables, translated from vernacular versions selected from several centuries of classics writings, including such works as Zhan Guo Ce; Zhuang Zi; Han Fei Zi; Lie Zi; Liu Hedong Ji; and Xiao Fu. Each contains a social message or moral, and many have become a part of the Chinese language in the form of idiomatic sayings such as 'the fool buys the shoes.'
