197 pp. 'There is wide diversity of thought in this collection of articles, which makes ecumenicism seem chimerical at times. The more thought-provoking articles call for a return to the central foundation of church, a communion in mission affirming all--both men and women--and their gifts. Just as it is certain that no one in the world is entirely free of oppression, it is equally certain that those in the church, of all people, should not be 'internalizing oppression.' Neither should they be accommodating the gospel to social, politico-economic conventions. If the church has any solidarity, it is the celebration of its oneness in Christ and not a clamoring of separate egos. Otherwise the power of the church becomes 'distorted, idolatrous,' not to say diluted. Such seems to be the consensus of the articles.' - Library Journal CONTENTS: Foreword; Preface; Introduction; I.
