This volume picks up at age fifteen (~1873), and continues through the date of original publication (1916). After his early life with the Sioux, Eastman attended Boston University and became an authoritative author and speaker on Sioux ethnology and Native American affairs. He was also an advocate of the YMCA, and a co-founder of the Boy Scouts of America.
