x, 265, [1] pp. 8vo. An Italian travelogue by the Florentine bookseller who employed author Norman Douglas (to whom, along with Charles Prentice, the work is dedicated), and who privately published such controversial works as D.H. Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's Lover (Douglas knew Lawrence, and reportedly introduced the two after Lawrence had difficulty with conventional publishers in England and the United States). Douglas and Orioli traveled extensively together, and co-wrote a cookbook full of aphrodisiac recipes entitled Venus in the Kitchen.
