A history of the three-color process in photography, which was suggested in 1855 by Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell, and formed the basis for all subsequent chemical and electronic photography processes. The author was the associated editor of American Photography, and wrote a number of books on photographic science. Wall once lived in Rochester, New York where he was employed by the Fireproof Film Company; he later taught at Syracuse University, becoming the head of its Photography Department.
