170, [6] pp. 8vo. Red cloth, gilt titles, blind-stamped rules & design on front board. Several black & white illustrations and photographic plates. Introduction by Bishop Charles H. Stileman. A Christian polemic against the spread of Islam, written by a missionary partially who co-founded the American Arabian Mission, and founded the American Christian Literature Society for Moslems. Zwemer refers to it as 'the Moslem problem', and uses pejorative terms such as 'disease' and 'propagandism' to refer to practice and promotion of the religion. He expresses a desire to capitalize on disunity among Islamic populations, and the civil unrest caused by World War I, as an opportunity to evangelize. The overall tone is combative, sometimes even militaristic (with phrases such as 'the mobilisation of our spiritual forces'). Zwemer's success as a missionary (he was nicknamed The Apostle of Islam) likely played a role in his appointment as Professor of Missions and Professor of the History of Religion at the Princeton Theological Seminary.
