Born in 1912 in Bellinzona, Svizzera, Maraja studied in Lugano and began his career working for the Ala studios. In 1940, he moved to Berlin, where he cooperated with IMA Film, among others of the animated film 'La Rosa di Bagdad'. After the war, he became well-known for his book illustrations for 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland', 'Pinocchio', 'Peter Pan', and many other classics. First published on 19 December 1843, A Christmas Carol became an instant classic. Scrooge's transformation from grumpy miser to charitable figure carries a heart-warming message for the Christmas season - a time of peace and goodwill to all men.
