Fold-out map in publisher's sleeve. This edition published in 2012 by Old House books and maps. Drink has a long and colourful history in London, from tippling medieval kings through to the devastating 'gin craze' of the eighteenth century and Temperance Movement of the Victorian era. Although it presented public houses as the 'modern plague', this map no doubt also served to inform pub-goers of what was on offer, and gives us a fascinating glimpse of the industry and culture of drinking in the London of Jack the Ripper.
