Born in Canada in 1904, Lonergan taught at universities all over the world and served as a member of the International Theological Commission. Contemporary theologians are constantly acknowledging their debt to his highly influential work. He died in November of 1984.This third collection of Lonergan's papers covers the period between 1974 and 1982 and brings together most of his last work. These papers, many of which were originally lectures, contain Lonergan's thoughts on Aristotle and Aquinas, Christology, religious experience, religious knowledge, and many other subjects. Frederick Crowe, editor of this collection, is a Jesuit scholar and an expert on the work of Lonergan. He is currently on the faculty of Regis College, Toronto. He sees in this third collection of Lonergan's papers the background unity of the mind that can move in many directions with surety and find ever new and continuously creative applications.
