This book is a compilation of stories published in the Newark Courier-gazette in the late 70's and early 80's by the Wayne County Historian, Cecelia Jackson. It primarily deals with the Village of Newark from its founding circa 1825 and it growth during the heyday of the Erie Canal which passes through the village. It also includes a discussion of several of the historical homes in the village and town. A much more complete chronically of the historical homes can be found in her book "Historic Homes in and Around Arcadia".
