145 pp. Illustrated by Lois Lenski. When a three generation feud between two Vermont families is finally resolved, a little girl learns to accept the truth about how her dog was killed. Lenski continued to write Regional and Roundabout books until 1968. The final title, Deer Valley Girl, was set in northern Vermont and presented issues including women in the workforce and the acceptability of deer hunting.[3]
