A work on physiology and pathology by the Polish biochemist who, based on this work, is credited with the formulation of the concept of vitamins, which he called 'vital amines.' Funk discusses the relationship between vitamins (or lack thereof) and illnesses such as pellagra and rickets. His work shifted scientific thinking significantly, and still affects the way medicine and preventative care are approached.
