By the author well-known from his memoirs of adventures in Europe (Views Afoot: or Europe Seen with Knapsack and Staff). The stories contained were originally commissioned by Horace Greeley and published as reports in his Tribune. Includes introduction by Robert Glass Cleland, and illustrations by the author.
