Ethan Allen was a co-founder of the state of Vermont, the leader of the Green Mountain Boys militia organization, and an American Revolutionary War hero best known for capturing Fort Ticonderoga from Benedict Arnold. This biography includes an account of his life, an early history of Vermont, an engraved frontispiece of Kinney's statue of Allen, an engraved illustration of Old Ticonderoga, and a map showing the route of General Burgoyne previous to his surrender of Saratoga.
