The son of two teachers, he grows up on campus and knows the school intimately even before becoming a student, and he remains connected to it for the rest of his life. In addition to careers as a diplomat and teacher, Kingdon serves on the George School Committee, including as its chair, and as the school archivist. Through a Quakerly commitment to simple living, he is able to make several significant philanthropic gifts to his alma mater that each reflect a personal interest growing out of his own experience.
