568, [52] pp. Leather spine and corners, gilt titles, marbled boards and endpapers. A 19th century reissue of the 16th century account of English history by Richard Grafton, King's Printer under Henry VIII and Edward VI. This second volume covers the period from Edward IV through Queen Elizabeth I, and includes an extensive chronological table following the text, which covers 1189-1568, as well as a detailed index. Grafton was the earliest known writer to refer to Edward of Woodstock in print as 'the Black Prince.' While this history consists largely of material compiled from other authors, Grafton remains notable for his influence in the establishment and maintenance of the London hospitals.
