xii, 475 pp. A travelogue transcribed by Joseph Hatton based on the experiences of the famous British stage actor of the Victorian era Henry Irving, in which he recounts the visit of his Lyceum Company (which also included noted actress Ellen Terry) to America. Irving was the first actor to be knighted, and many believe he served as Bram Stoker's inspiration for the character Count Dracula (Stoker managed the Lyceum Theater). Irving, together with co-star Terry, became representative of traditional English theatre, mainly through productions of Shakespearean plays.
