Engraved frontispiece portrait of naval officer Oliver Hazard Perry. An account by the son of Sailing Master Daniel Dobbins, intended to correct what he calls 'an ex parte character' present in earlier accounts of Perry's victory in the Battle of Lake Erie. This work is compiled from conversations and Daniel Dobbins's memoranda and other papers connected to the accounts of McKenzie, Cooper, and Lossing.
