A description of ice and glaciers, with an account of a voyage to Algeria to view an eclipse, is included also under a separate title page (p. 337). Tyndall was a prominent physicist, credited with popularizing experimental physics through the publication of over a dozen works on the subject. He is particularly well known for his discoveries in infrared radiation and the physical properties of air.
