How to Wrestle: Instructions Based on the Work of a World's Champion Wrestler. (No. 1267)

64 pp. A detailed guide to numerous techniques for use in Greco-Roman wrestling. Official rules of the sport precede text, and each move is illustrated with line drawings. Also covered are techniques for breakfalls and maintaining balance. This appears to be an unauthorized reissue of 'How to Wrestle: Instructions Based on the Work of Frank A. Gotch, World's Champion Wrestler', published in 1929 by Max Stein Publishing in Chicago. Neither Gotch, nor the authors of this work, nor the original publishier are credited. The 1929 work was itself a condensation of Gotch's 1908 work 'Wrestling and How to Train', published by Richard K. Fox shortly after Gotch triumphed over George 'the Russian Lion' Hackenschmidt, which made him the first American professional wrestler to hold the title of World Heavyweight Champion. He held the title from 1908-1913, still one of the longest reigns in the sport. One copy in OCLC.
