"The thirty-seven piece Kennedy collection was confined to pieces etched with portraits of naval heroes and American statesmen, sailing ships, whale hunting, national monuments and the like. One modern piece done by one of the few remaining scrimshaw artists was of the Presidential Seal. Intended as a present from Mrs. Kennedy for the Christmas of 1963, it was placed by the First Lady in the President's coffin the night before his funeral."
