An autobiography of the Newbery Medal winning author of Smoky the Cowhorse, who was also known for his artwork depicting cowboys and rodeos. Scribner ran James's first published story, Bucking Horses and Bucking-Horse Riders, in their magazine in 1922, and went on to print twenty of his books.
