Harriet Hansen Robinson went to work in the Massachusetts textile mills as a "bobbin girl" at age 10, when the industry was just getting underway in 1834. Writing her biography many years later -- and there are only two such glimpses into this amazing moment of the country's unfolding (Lucy Larcom's is the other), Robinson reveals the resourceful independence, curiosity and creativity of these mill women.
