94 pp., jacket art and maps by David Ireland. H.P. Lovecraft, the famous writer of horror stories that created what is now called 'the Cthulhu mythos,' lived in Providence, Rhode Island for most of his life, and many of the dwellings and sites mirrored in his tales have models which are recognizable today. Beckwith has researched Providence and its outlying areas, armed with an appreciation of Lovecraft's writings and a deep interest in the region's rich colonial heritage. For this book, he has identified buildings which were utilized by Lovecraft in his tales, as well as places mentioned in his correspondence. The result is a total of four tours, three of which can be made by vehicle, and one by foot. All are deeply involved with Lovecraft's interests, and all are accompanied by maps drawn expressly for this book.
