The Williamsport and North Branch Railroad with its subsidiary of many years, the Eagles Mere Railroad, provided, while not a typical short line railroad in the United States, certainly a unique "All American" line. Physically located in both valleys and mountainous terrain, its standard and narrow gauge lines operated both rod and geared locomotives. The W. & N. B. operated an extensive passenger and freight service for the many small towns and a wide variety of industrial and mining enterprises.
