Memoirs of a British phrenologist and his travels in the United States from 1838-1840, in which he discusses abolition, medical treatment of the insane, and notable contemporary figures. Combe founded the Edinburgh Phrenological Society and toured the U.S. giving lectures (hence the visit described here). Included in the introduction are several phrenological diagrams.
