xiv, 161 pp. The author has been privileged to witness the development of the Sikorsky helicopter from its inception; indeed, as its chief test pilot from 1941 to 1944, he has been intimately concerned with its welfare. It is his considered opinion that, in order to evaluate just what the helicopter is and what it is not, a knowledge of how it came into being is essential. It is proposed, therefore, in the following pages, to unfold the tale.
