669 pp. Part of Karl Barth's great study of formative eighteenth and nineteenth century thinkers was translated into English and published in 1959 under the title From Rousseau to Ritschl. Barth himself expressed displeasure that the book had been truncated in this way and refused to write a preface for the translation. This new edition presents the book as Barth planned it.--jacket
