208 pp. "Every Railsplitter will known why this book is called Proud to be a Railsplitter. Brigadier General Alexander R.Bolling said at every opportunity, "I am , as you are, proud to be a Railsplitter." General Bolling received his first star in March of 1942. He took command of the 84th Division in June of 1942. He was the only one star general to command a front line division. He received his second star near the end of the war. General Bolling was a devoutly religious man. the last thing he did before retiring , even on the battlefield, was to take communion with the division chaplain. After the war he always carried a paper in his wallet listing the number of casualties suffered by his division. There is no doubt that General Alexander R. Bolling was a good leader for our division. This book is dedicated to General Alexander R. Bolling and all Railsplitters, every man a hero."
