59 pp. Nicely done pictorial of the Nickel Plate's Nickel Plate District, illustrated with both color and black and white photos. almost half the book is a detailed history of the Nickel Plate, from its creation in the aftermath of the Gould-Vanderbilt railroad wars, the assistance of the Seney Syndicate, the takeover by the Van Sweringen brothers, the John Bernet era and the eventual merger into the Norfolk and Western. The photos show plenty of action shots with trackside structures and stations on view so it should be an invaluable reference work for modelers. With roster of the Nickel Plate's original equipment and another for steam yard switchers, passenger engines, freight engines and cabooses. Includes map.
