vii, 165 pp. Interesting history of Rolls-Royce as seen by an engine development engineer/test pilot who worked for Rolls-Royce from 1925 until his forced retirement in 1971 due to Rolls-Royce's bankruptcy. As a sales engineer and military aviation liaison engineer, Ronald Harker experienced first hand many of the post-war battles between British, French and American jet engine manufacturers to become selected engine suppliers for new military and civilian aircraft, and he personally knew many of the top industry and government leaders. The book also illustrates very well that Great Britain was a major force in the aviation industry, on par with the United States until the late 1950s/early 1960s when U.S. companies with help from the U.S. Government took the lead. - Amazon
