Illustrated title page and full-page illustrations by Elihu Vedder, an American painter best known for this work, but who also contributed an illustrated title page for the Dore edition of Poe's The Raven. The Rubaiyat has been released in hundreds of editions with various styles of bindings and illustrations. The 1884 deluxe edition with Vedder's illustrations is arguably one of the best. Offered here is the 1894 reissue, the octavo version. A folio version was released the same year, both were reissues of the 1884 limited edition, which was previously reissued in an 1886 trade edition. This edition includes the plain text of the poem following the stylized pages of Vedder, plus an extensive notes section.
