Scrapbook of Over 1000 Recipes (Circa Early 1900s?)
Regular price
$ 50.00
A recipe scrapbook that includes about 1100 recipes, mostly for food, but also for household items, personal care, gardening, table etiquette, etc. These are comprised of clippings from magazines and newspapers. Dates not found on most, but one article stated 1903, and a couple others 1914, so it's likely most of the material is 1900-1920. 142 recipes include black-and-white photos, and appear to be from the same source (format of photo with recipe caption beneath is consistent). The binder was purchased commercially (Marcus Ward & Co., London), but the cover appears custom-made - it's a thin brown marbled film over boards, with the word 'recipes' handwritten in marker on a piece of masking tape across the front. Inside the front cover is a pocket containing 22 inserts, from Cornell pamphlets to Jello ads, which has the pencil name John Gnaedinger on the front.
