Charles Haddon (CH) Spurgeon was born in 1834 to an Anglican family in England. However in 1850 at the tender age of 15 he had a conversion experience in a Methodist chapel. He was baptized, and quickly started his career as a preacher in a Baptist church. Within a short period of time he became well-known for his brilliant preaching. During his life he would produce 3,600 sermons, in addition to numerous commentaries, devotions and other works. Most of these were in a plain easy-to-understand language that resounded with the common people.
