Settlement and Growth of Duxbury, 1628-1870

For nearly two centuries, Duxbury grew until, in the 19th century, the town burgeoned with shipyards, producing hundreds of huge sailing vessels. All this Mrs. Wentworth traces in "Settlement and Growth." She locates the historic sites, Indian trails, tells curious tales of the early days, and describes shipbuilding in Duxbury. This revised edition contains an index as well as an afterword by Katherine Pillsbury, the current Town Historian. The book is hardcover, with 57 illustrations including many remarkable photographs of 19th century Duxbury.
