Captain Warre, topographical artist, led an expedition of British forces to the Oregon territory in the midst of a border dispute between the US and Great Britain in 1845. He painted water color sketches en route which had not been previously published until this book. There are 16 in full color and 55 in black & brown duotone. Additionally, the book contains Warre's account of the expedition and a map.
