Based on a dissertation submitted at Cambridge in 1891, and first published in its complete form in 1896, this second edition includes revisions and some added footnotes. The author was an English idealist, metaphysician, and professor at Trinity College, best known as a proponent of Hegel, and for his 1908 work The Unreality of Time.
