20, [2] pp. Includes frontispiece of locomotive and illustration of the monument to Andrews' Raiders. Front wrapper reads: The General: Story of Andrews' Raiders, April 12, 1862. Both this and the proper title of this work refer to what is now called the Great Locomotive Chase, or sometimes Andrews' Raid or Mitchel Raid. Union soldiers in northern Georgia, led by civilian scout James Andrews, commandeered a locomotive called The General, brought it north to Chattanooga, and razed as much of the Western & Atlantic Railroad as they could along the way. While some of the raiders were captured and executed, several survivors were among the first to receive the Medal of Honor.
