xvi, 325 pp. A collection of sixty fairy tales by The Brothers Grimm, with color frontispiece and plates, as well as numerous black-and-white illustrations, by Arthur Rackham. Rackham's work, which established him as a leading artist during the British Golden Age of book illustration, continues to have a strong following, and original editions are particularly sought after. The plates reproduce 41 paintings, with eight being printed on one side only. In addition, there are 55 pen-and-ink drawings by Rackham, and a title-page border and lettering by the artist. This edition is based closely on the famous and beautiful Constable edition of 1909; the format is similar, the text and binding design are identical, and Rackham's illustrations and plates are all reprinted.
