A stand-alone volume of Irving's famous fairy tale, now a Halloween classic, which originally appeared in his 1820 collection of stories entitled The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent. This is the first, and therefore most likely the scarcest, of the volumes Westvaco (West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company) released in their Christmas series, which ran from 1958-2007. Its format (including the frontispiece) is taken from the 1820 original. It includes a foreword and colophon describing the edition.
