Includes engraved frontispiece portrait of Scott, map of the Niagara Frontier preceding text, two other maps of battles (including Lundy's Lane), and four engraved plates showing interactions with Native Americans and other soldiers. A wealth of historical information about America during and following the Revolution (1780s-1845), with specific focus on the wars in which Lt.-Gen. Scott participated. An updated version by the same author with an expanded title was published in 1861 at the outset of the American Civil War, in which he also served.
