300 pp. 8vo. Map of crime scene precedes text. A detective novel by the Golden Age mystery author who also wrote under the names Carter Dickson, Carr Dickson, and Roger Fairbairn. Carr was considered a master of the 'locked room' sub-genre. This book features his popular Dr. Fell character, and follows his efforts to solve a crime with Chief Inspector Hadley involving a murder at Traitor's Gate at the Tower of London. The Alice in Wonderland reference in the title is also an interesting touch. This is a particularly scarce work of Carr's, and a copy with the original jacket recently sold at auction for $17,500.
