259, [1] pp. Sometimes subtitled The Malefactors' Bloody Register, this work was originally a monthly bulletin of executions, produced by the Keeper of Newgate Prison in London, which was later collected into a series of moralising stories about sin, crime, and criminals who commit them in England. Originally published in 1774, it influenced a great deal of 19th century crime fiction.
