Most of the numerous volumes of military history concerning the final phase of the war in the Pacific have concentrated on the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Equally fearsome and more costly in human and physical destruction were the firebomb raids over Japan. The largest and deadliest of these was the March 9-10, 1945 attack on Tokyo, treated here.
