Carr was considered a master of the 'locked room' sub-genre. This book features his popular Dr. Fell character, and probes the mystery of a man found strangled on a tennis court after a social doubles match was halted by a rainstorm, the only tracks on the sodden court leading up to the corpse those of the dead man and a woman who doesn't seem to have done it.
