282, [1] pp. A novel for young readers following warriors of the Sioux tribe, featuring a black-and-white frontispiece and plates by Norman Rockwell, who at the time of this work's first publication was just starting out as an artist. His long run of covers for the Saturday Evening Post would begin the following year, and up to that point he had been a staff artist at Boys' Life. While this is not the first book Rockwell illustrated (that was Tell Me Why: Stories about Mother Nature, published in 1912 when he was just 18 years old), still a very early appearance. The plates bear his name, but he is not credited on the title or copyright pages for them.
