124 pp. Color plates by John Buckland-Wright. Translated into English from the Chinese by Frances Hume, with a preface by Gwyn Williams. Originally published in medieval China during the 13th century rule of Kublai Khan. It's possible Marco Polo saw a dramatic performance of this during his time there. Originally introduced to Western culture in the 1832, it was later adapted quite freely. This edition follows the 1832 translation.
