Marvelous informed text by a noted historian. George Washington was a giant for his time, two inches over 6 feet tall. He commanded awe in his subordinates and led a most interesting life. Make absolutely certain that you read the pages devoted to the traditional portrait we view today of Washington by an artist named Gilbert Stuart. That painter, apparently, had a streak of cruelty within him and exaggerated the distorted mouth of the President.
