xii, 74 pp. A novella, translated from the original Spanish Los Tres Maridos Burlados into English by Ilsa Barea, with illustrations by Arthur Wragg. Originally published in the 17th century by a Roman Catholic monk, who also wrote The Trickster of Seville and the Stone Guest, the tale in which the folkloric womanizer Don Juan originated. His works are notable as early examples of fiction featuring female protagonists, and for their frank discussion of sexuality.
