271 pp. Van Gogh moved to Arles, France in 1888 and stayed for nearly two years. This was Van Gogh's most prolific time, and he created hundreds of paintings and drawings. Theo, his brother, supported him financially during this time, so, in exchange, Van Gogh sent masterpiece after masterpiece to his brother, an art dealer. During Van Gogh's time in Arles, the artist whom he held in the highest regard, Paul Gauguin, came to stay with him. Sadly, it was in Arles that Van Gogh also suffered an emotional breakdown.
